REACHING NET ZERO: WHAT SOLAR CAN’T DO ALONE
After 2 years of research, Change Energy has developed ‘Managed Energy Services’ for a school wanting a customer-centric approach to supplying electricity designed to align with a TRUE ZERO outcome, whilst lowering the total cost of electricity (compared to BAU).
Managed Energy Services means the school can focus on operating their business, leaving Change Energy to manage the complexities of the Energy Transition.
When a school signs up for Managed Energy Services, Change Energy will:
- Use customer data to design a battery solution.
- Manage the connect approval process with Western Power.
- Coordinate the installation of the battery through to approval to operate from Western Power.
- Operate the battery to maximise savings for the customer. As the electricity retailer, only Change Energy can use the battery to create savings that will be directly passed through to the customer.
- Evaluate market trends to optimise the operation of the battery for the best return for the customer.
This approach will reduce a school’s energy costs, increase flexibility and aligns with reducing emissions.
Change Energy has engaged with a global BESS manufacturer to bring an approved to Australian standards BESS to West Australia.
We have gone with this product as it comes with high efficiency, and reliability, with multiple built-in safety systems not necessarily available in other BESS evaluated.
The size and configuration of the BESS is school load dependent.
Change Energy, on behalf of the school coordinates and manages the connection of the BESS to the grid, working with Western Power. This continues all the way through to installation and securing the ‘approval to operate’ from Western Power.
Its when the BESS is operational that the full benefits of Change Energy MES become available to the school.
Under our agreement, Change Energy will operate the BESS to maximise savings for the school, in energy, in network and in capacity charges.
Savings of greater than 30% of annual electricity bills are achievable.
This is only the start, Change Energy is already evaluating market trends and looking to bring lower cost renewable energy to our schools, increasing savings and further reducing emissions in alignment with TRUE ZERO goals.
